Lulu's Light

A poem dedicated to my second son, Lucas:

Porcelain dream baby the soft morning awakens,
Colors awash by sunglow off the minted pane,
Dazzling crystals of gentleness whitening his eyes,
Woven sheets of clean figurines unleashing joy.
Arise, merry youth, cooing to the ambient chorus,
Rift of the horizon's overture, a steady hymn,
Rays that penetrate his glossy eyes, barely used,
Augmented orbits of innocence in their reflection.
Grace he found in the reckoning of sunrise,
Lullaby fragments that patterned his solace,
A love returned, amplified by warmth of slumber-
Life begins where heaven meets the earth.
