Maynard's Restaurant

    A fictional restaurant in my head was located in Seattle.  It was between a waterfront park that often hosted outdoor events under heavy tourism, and a community college.  All my favorite people worked there.  I created the sales stats from spreadsheets I logged that were based on my time working at McDonald's.  The sales are exaggerated to reflect higher cost, quality, and activity.  Though I was told we were one of the busiest fast food stores in the state.

 

Breakfast

Side options: hash browns, country mix, sausage, bacon, fruit salad, toast

Eggs: scrambled, sunny side up, fried

1.  English muffin.  Comes with egg, ham, cheese.

2.  Sausage muffin.   Comes with sausage, egg, cheese.

3.  Hot cakes.  2, 4, or 6.  Eggs.

4.  French toast.  2, 4, or 6.  Eggs.

5.  Egg special.  Bacon, sausage, toast, hashbrowns, fruit salad.

sweets: pastry rings, bear claws, cobblestone, cinnamon rolls, apple pies, cherry pies,

Combo 1: Quarter-pound burger on sesame bun.  Comes with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup, mustard. 

Combo 2: Friend chicken burger on honey wheat bread.  Comes with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo.

Combo 3: Grilled chicken burger on honey wheat bread.  Comes with lettuce, tomato, mayo.

Combo 4: Sub sandwich on wheat or white.  Roast beef, ham, chicken, turkey, or all.

Combo 5: Fish sandwich on white bun.  Comes with cheese, tartar sauce. 

Combo 6: Chinese special.  Two entrees: mongolian beef, sesame chicken, general tso, sweet & sour pork, kung pao chicken.  Rice, chow mein, or half and half.  Egg roll or potsticker.

Combo 7:  Mexican special.  One entree: burrito, enchilada, tostada, fajitas, tacos.  Rice, refried beans, or half and half.

Combo 8: Italian special.  One entree: spaghetti, fetuccini, ravioli, pizza.  Bread.  Soup or salad.

Combo 9: Chicken strips: 2, 4, 6 pieces

Combo 10:  Chicken nuggets: 6, 10, 20 pieces

Combo 11: Bagel sandwich with shmear and lunch meat.

Combo 12: Veggie sandwich.  Comes with lettuce, tomato, pickle, spinach, mayo, mustard

Rockstars in Flight

I said baby you been lookin’ real good you know that I remember when we met.  You were lickin’ your lips with your lipstick shining, it's a feeling that I know I’ll never forget.  On the last day of class, we ran naked through the school, dancing under the evergreens as skeletons dangled from under them in the cool breeze.  At the rock show we smoked hash and moshed in the mud while Maynard sang eulogies to the martyrs.  We cruised around town in a little red corvette and let the cops chase us around.  Honey you were my best friend, we should’a stayed together till the very end. 

On the Fourth of July we rode our bikes through the neighborhood while the sky was on fire.  At the carnival we were head-banging on the Octopus when Edgar hit a Grand Salami into the night.  The hysteria and uproar of the stadium flooded the night like Hell’s bells at the stairway to Heaven.  We fell off the rail of a crazy train in the salsa jungles of Pixieland.  I put my gun in your rose as we drew blood in the waterfall. 

We rode on the backs of dolphins to the Amalfi coast of Italy, scaling the Alps on our way to the freedom of Paris.  In the orchards of Burgundy, we spread our arms to fly underneath thunderclouds, soaring to the skies with the crows at our sides.  We met in outer space to spend a night on the moon to watch the Earth come up.  We flew through galaxies and bright red nebulae to the far reaches of the universe, to a special place where time and space fold in on each other.  There we made enough love to generate new stars for billions of years.  Our procreation rebukes the hierarchies of abuse and neglect.  Now the Earth's children will never cry.
